Church of Christ

Our Youth Minister

Aaron and Josie Allen

We believe that we have been called by God to serve as missionaries to expand and strengthen His kingdom wherever we live in this world. Following this call, we choose to live a missional lifestyle, in that all our energy and effort is focused on influencing those around us positively for Jesus Christ our Lord. We seek to contextualize His gospel in a way that makes it relevant to all without compromising its truth. Although Christʼs gospel of grace and reconciliation is for all people everywhere, we feel that our specific gifts are for best suited for teaching and encouraging youth and families within His church to live Christ-centered lives. It is our desire to work with parents so that they might teach their children by word and example. It is our desire to work with teens and young adults so that they might come to know Christ personally and experience Him in their lives through the world around them, be it art, literature, music, etc.

In order to serve others best, we seek to follow the example of Christ by sharing our time, meals and emotions to build genuine, open and honest relationships. Having personally been blessed by Christian mentors, we encourage those mature in their faith to enter into a mentoring relationship with someone less spiritually mature than they. As a couple, we see our marriage as a partnership that uses both our gifts for the work of the kingdom. Ministry is what God does through us both collectively and individually, with each of us being fully involved in the task. We are committed to working within the community of faith, accepting the leadership, accountability, and mutual encouragement found therein. We try to remain open to Godʼs call through prayer, wise counsel and Spirit-led discernment.

A Little About Us

Aaron and Josie Allen

Aaron and Josie Allen were married 2005 in an ocean-side ceremony in Daytona Beach, Florida. They met through a missions campaign to Italy in 2004, sponsored by Harding University, the college they both attended. In 2009, they welcomed their first child, Noah Thomas, into their family. Since their time in Italy, they have known that God was calling them to serve as missionaries, wherever they might find themselves.

Aaron

I was born in Arkansas in 1980 and raised there in a faithful and loving family. I grew up in the Westside Church of Christ, being very active in the youth group and other activities within the congregation. At the age 15 I decided to become a follower of Christ, and was baptized by my Dad at our home church. Through high school I attended every youth activity and mission trip, becoming a core member of the youth group. I left college, at the time a Business Administration Major, unfinished to pursue this opportunity. I changed my Major for a third time to Missions, and have never looked back! I learned so much about Scripture, cultures, ministry and languages at Harding. During this time we were also able to work with a local Spanish outreach ministry that gave us friendships, experience and mentors. These people continue to bless our lives and encourage us as we seek to do Godʼs will. It is our prayer that wherever we live, we would influence those around us positively for Christ, and encourage the church to live up to its true potential.

Josie

I was born in New to a Cuban father and a Puerto Rican mother. Praise be to God that he sought me out! I became a Christian at the age of 15 and the Holly Hill Church of Christ reached out to “adopt” me from that moment on. I became a leader in the youth group and sought to reach out to younger girls... In 2002 I graduated high school and went on to Harding University to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. I knew that God had blessed me with a heart for people, a gift for languages, and a desire to encourage his body, so when Aaron came into my life with a desire for ministry, I was all in.
