Our Worship

When Jesus’ church was first established on the day of Pentecost in A.D. 33, as recorded in Acts 2, the Apostle Peter delivered a message of the gospel (the death, burial and resurrection, also called the “good news”) of Jesus Christ to those that were there. It says in Acts 2:37-38, that “when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (NKJ)

Acts 2:41-42 says “Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Ephesians 5:19-21 says that the Christians were “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.” Colossians 3:16 says “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Hebrews 13:15 says “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”

As the early church did, we continue today the worship and fellowship that was begun nearly 2000 years ago:

Continuing steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine: The New Testament was written primarily by the apostles, as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. Each Sunday and Wednesday we meet together to continue studying the New Testament in addition to the Old Testament and to encourage each other to continue faithfully in daily Bible reading at homes.

Worship and praise: Each Sunday and Wednesday we assemble to meet at the building to worship out God with songs, hymns and spiritual songs. The purpose is to praise God, in our prayers, in our singing and, throughout the week, in our lives.

Fellowship: We also meet to fellowship with one another, to encourage one another in Christian service, to rejoice with those who rejoice, and to weep with those who weep. But our fellowship does not end at the building. We strive to encourage and fellowship one another throughout the week, as brothers and sisters in Christ should.

Breaking of Bread: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 says “For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

You are invited to join with us in worshipping and praising God, fellowshipping with one another, and participating in the Lord’s supper each Sunday as was done in the early church (Acts 20:7).
